About

Careful, plain-spoken evaluation.

I am a licensed psychologist in Maryland. I evaluate adults who want a diagnostic answer, or a clearer picture of how they think, learn and focus, and I explain what I find in plain words. An evaluation is not therapy. It looks at your history, your daily life and what testing shows, and it ends in a written report you keep.

I explain each test before we start, and I tell you what the results can and cannot say.

Evaluations

What I evaluate.

Each evaluation is built around your question. We agree on what to look at before any testing begins.

ADHD evaluation

For adults who wonder whether trouble with focus, organization or follow-through fits ADHD, or something else. We review your history, use interviews and rating scales, and test attention and memory.

Autism evaluation

For adults who have long felt different in how they connect, communicate or take in the world. It includes a detailed interview about your childhood and daily life, plus structured tasks in session.

Learning and cognitive evaluation

For adults who want to know how they learn, read, remember and solve problems, often for school, a licensing exam or work. Testing covers reasoning, memory, processing speed and academic skills.

A second look

For adults who carry a diagnosis they are unsure about, or several that do not seem to fit together. I review earlier records and test what is needed to look again.

Evaluation and therapy

An evaluation is not therapy.

They answer different questions and run on different schedules. Some people want one, some the other, some both.

Therapy

  • Works toward a goal: what can change?

  • Ongoing sessions, at a pace you set

  • Skills and support in the room

  • Conversation and practice

  • One therapist, week to week

An evaluation

  • Answers a question: what is going on?

  • Visits with a clear end

  • A written report you keep

  • Interviews, records and testing

  • Next steps put in writing

The process

How an evaluation works.

  • 01

    Intake interview

A 60-minute conversation about your history, your question and what you want the evaluation to clarify.

  • 02

    Testing visits

One or more visits for interviews, questionnaires and tests. I tell you how long each will take before you book.

  • 03

    Feedback session

We go through the findings together, and a written report follows. You can ask about every part of it.

Testimonials

Here's what clients say.

What it was like to work together.

“Every test was explained before we began, and nothing felt rushed. The feedback session was the first time anyone had gone through my own results with me at my pace.”

Noel E.

“Dr. Calzada asked questions nobody had asked me before and listened to the whole answer. The office was quiet, and I never felt hurried.”

Kunal S.

“The report was written in plain language, and she took the time to go through it with me. She answered every question I had.”
